Join us for the inaugural “Queer West Boxing” class at Kingsway Boxing Club and experience our state-of-the-art high-performance facility! Suitable for all experience and fitness levels, this class is led by Rob Gorican, a Boxing Ontario certified coach and proud member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.
Participants will learn Olympic-style technique, movement, and the mechanics of boxing while being physically challenged in new and exciting ways. This class includes a mix of technical and conditioning drills that can be tailored to individual fitness levels, ensuring a challenging yet accessible experience for all – even if you’ve never boxed before!
The session includes skipping, shadowboxing, heavy bag work, partnered and coached pad work, technical training, and closing with core exercises. We even have a DJ to keep you motivated throughout the entire class! Once the class is done, join us for a social gathering and enjoy a cold beer or soda in our lounge! We will also be hosting a “smoothie fundraiser” for Fight To End Cancer with all proceeds benefitting the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.
Whether it’s your first time or you’re returning to the sport, you’ll leave energized and wanting to jump in the ring again!

About Coach Rob: Growing up, Rob didn’t have much of an opportunity to get involved in organized sports – although like any other kid, he was glued to the tv set every Saturday morning when pro wrestling was on and of course when Muhammad Ali was fighting, he was right there too, yelling at the screen. As life happened, Rob followed a typical “theatre kid” path all the way to university, where the opportunity presented itself to join the wrestling team which had just been established. Of course he jumped at the chance and over the course of 2 seasons was an assistant coach. Theatre also led him to Kingsway Boxing Club and the “Fight To End Cancer” where he trained and fought in his first amateur fight. These experiences have had a huge impact on his journey – but also provide a constant reminder of how important representation is. As much as there has been some progress for LGBTQIA2S+ acceptance, there are also constant reminders of how we still have a long way to go.
