Kingsway Boxing Club is proud to announce a new partnership with RingScore, which will become the Official Scoring System of KBC Fight Night, beginning with our upcoming events on September 19 and December 12.
Through this partnership, RingScore will work alongside our team to introduce open scoring and a five-judge panel at our club-level competitions—giving athletes, coaches and spectators greater insight into how bouts are being scored while bringing the competition environment closer to what athletes can expect as they progress through the sport.
For us, this partnership is about much more than technology.
It’s about education, transparency and athlete development.

Why Open Scoring Matters
Boxing is unique in that an athlete can execute a game plan, finish three rounds and still have very little understanding of how the judges actually viewed the bout until the final decision is announced.
At the developmental level, we believe there is an opportunity to do more.
By incorporating open scoring, athletes and their corners can better understand how a bout is unfolding and learn to make the necessary tactical adjustments in real time.
If an athlete believes they are winning a bout but the judges are seeing something differently, that information becomes incredibly valuable. Does the boxer need to increase their output? Establish greater technical or tactical dominance? Land cleaner, more effective punches? Change the distance or tempo?
Those are lessons that shouldn’t begin when an athlete reaches an international tournament. They should be developed at the grassroots level.

Five Judges. Five Perspectives.
Another important component of the partnership will be our commitment to utilizing five judges whenever possible.
Judging boxing requires officials positioned at different locations around the ring to independently evaluate what they see. No two judges have exactly the same viewing angle, and a larger panel provides a broader assessment of the action.
The goal is simple: give our athletes the fairest and most accurate decision possible.
But there is another important benefit.
Five individual scorecards provide athletes and coaches with significantly more information to evaluate after a bout. Rather than simply focusing on whether an athlete won or lost, teams can begin understanding why judges may have viewed individual rounds differently.
That creates an opportunity for better conversations between athletes, coaches and officials—and ultimately a better understanding of our sport.
Developing More Than Fighters
Grassroots competition should prepare athletes for the next level.
That means developing their technique and conditioning, but it also means teaching athletes and coaches how competition actually works.
Understanding scoring is part of becoming a better boxer.
Understanding scoring is also part of becoming a better coach.
And creating opportunities for officials to work within a professional electronic scoring environment contributes to the development of our referees and judges as well.
By integrating RingScore into KBC Fight Night, we want these events to become more than an opportunity to compete. We want them to be an educational competition environment where athletes, coaches and officials can all continue developing together.
