Team Kingsway Boxing Club brought a full contingent of competitors to the historic 43rd Brampton Cup — one of Canada’s longest-running and most competitive amateur Olympic-style boxing tournaments, held February 5–8, 2026 at the Save Max Sports Centre in Brampton, Ontario.
This year’s Brampton Cup was more than a weekend of matches; it was measured rounds, real adversity, technical growth, and performances that reflected the preparation put in between the bells. All 12 Team Kingsway athletes who competed — Raul Gallart Lora, Alexandra Pistiolis Marinow, Kwasi Amoateng, William Bardsley, Andrea Young, Liv Agapito, Helia Far Sepehri, Anthony Nasopoulos, Porter Bates, Quentin Snowden, Kendall Daulo, and Tala Piscitelli-Nurse — showed grit and progression that can’t be measured in medals alone.

Across the four days of competition, Kingsway fighters brought home 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 5 Bronze — a tangible reflection of the time invested in the gym, the sparring rounds taken, and the fight IQ sharpened under pressure.
This tournament wasn’t about showing up. It was about answering every bell with purpose, handling adversity when it came, and making the ring a place where effort translated to results and experience.
Medalists and Their Achievements

Alexandra Pistiolis Marinow Brings home Gold!
Alexandra made an explosive boxing debut, launching into action from the opening bell. Her combination punching led to a second-round stoppage by the referee, earning her a gold medal and the title of Brampton Cup champion.

Andrea Young Brings Home Gold!
Andrea Young opened with a unanimous decision over an experienced opponent, then made a statement in the finals — ending the bout in the first round.
“Brampton Cup has become the kickoff to a new boxing year for me. With the atmosphere buzzing, and the place filled with boxers from around the country and sometimes international guests, it’s a great tournament to get experience regardless of your level. The work our team put in was displayed by the great performances from everyone. I’m pleased to see my own results, once again showing the dedication of the team behind me. A great start to the 2026 season.”

Kwasi “The Prince of Darkness” Amoateng aka Banana Man, Brings Home Gold
Kwasi Amoateng captured gold with a composed and powerful showing. He faced a former opponent in his opener, earning a split decision, then stepped up in the finals — investing early work to the body before stopping his opponent in the third round. His second Brampton Cup gold medal.

Liv Agapito Brings Home Silver
Liv Agapito stepped into the ring for her very first fight and went full throttle from the opening bell, catching her opponent off guard. Fatigue showed in round two, but she dug deep and finished strong in the final round. No decision — but everything left in the ring.

Anthony Nasopoulos Brings Home Bronze
Anthony Nasopoulos advanced to round two before meeting an opponent who proved too much on the day. His coach made the right call and stopped the bout.

William “The Butcher” Bardsley Brings Home Silver!
William got the job done in the quarterfinals against a strong boxer from BC. In his semifinal bout, he controlled every exchange and dictated the pace in all rounds — a dominant performance that simply wasn’t reflected on the scorecards. He showed exactly who he is.

Raul Gallart Lora Brings Home Bronze!
Raul earned a solid win in his opening bout. His second fight was a strong performance that didn’t go our way on the cards. He’ll carry that forward as motivation, with Open Class right around the corner.
Quentin “The Beast” Snowden Battles With High-Level Opponent
Quentin Snowden dropped a razor-close split decision. His growth over the last few fights has been remarkable, and his work ethic continues to drive that progress. Next up is March 7 Fight Night at Kingsway Boxing, followed by a hopeful wildcard opportunity at Youth Nationals.

Coach’s Reflections
“Our goal at the Brampton Cup was to compete at our best, gain valuable experience, and prepare the team for the upcoming Provincial and National Championships, along with international tournaments on the horizon! Every boxer stepped into the ring this past weekend, and we are proud of their efforts. Congratulations to all our fighters! A huge thank you to the parents and support team for their dedication—feeding, driving, and getting everyone to weigh-ins. The coaches are excited to get back to the gym and build on this momentum!” ~ Virgil Barrow | KBC Head Coach
“The Brampton Cup has always held a special place for me. While I’m often overseas working at the highest levels of Olympic-style boxing, being back here in my home province, at a grassroots tournament like this, is grounding. Watching these athletes take their early steps in the sport reminds me why I started. The same values we see on the world stage… discipline, resilience, respect are built right here. It’s a privilege to support the next generation, and be part of their journey.” ~ Jennifer Huggins | World Boxing Official, Kingsway Boxing Club
“The team put their heart and soul into training leading up to the Brampton Cup. The team fought against stiff competition, each round was a challenge to win but the team showed up and executed, leading to strong results” ~ Geoff Britnell | KBC Senior Coach
The weekend also featured Fun Box bouts and female sparring — refereed by our own Jennifer Huggins, who is typically overseas working Olympic qualifying events.
“Grassroots is where it starts — and it’s where my heart is. These moments parallel what we see at the highest levels: preparation, pressure, resilience, and community. The stages may change, but the meaning doesn’t.”
Three gold. One silver. Five bronze.
More importantly: growth across the board, lessons absorbed, and a team moving forward together.
This is Team Kingsway.
