[POST EVENT RELEASE] Kingsway Boxers Dominate the Weekend Tournament!
Posted on

This past weekend was one to remember as three of our very own Kingsway Boxing Club athletes stepped into the ring and left everything they had behind the ropes.
The tournament was a true test of endurance, skill, and mental strength — the kind that demands every ounce of focus from start to finish.
Representing KBC with pride, Andrea Young, Quentin Snowden, and Kwasi Amoateng didn’t just show up to compete — they showed up to make a statement. Across multiple bouts, each of them faced fierce opponents, adapting, digging deep, and pushing past fatigue to rise to the challenge. Every round told a story of resilience and passion; every bell rang louder with the sound of hard work paying off.
What stood out most wasn’t just their performance — it was the unity, the energy, and the unmistakable KBC spirit that radiated from the team corner. From the roar of their teammates cheering ringside to the calm guidance of our coaches between rounds, the weekend became more than a competition — it was a celebration of what makes Kingsway Boxing truly special: community, dedication, and heart.
These athletes reminded us that champions aren’t built overnight. They’re built in the early mornings and late nights of training, in every sparring session, every sweat-soaked round, and every moment they choose to show up and keep fighting.

COACHES REFLECTIONS

Virgil Barrow | Kingsway Boxing Club Head Coach, Boxing Ontario Provincial Coaching Team
“KBC’s first-ever Fight Night was nothing short of incredible. With over 400 guests packed into the gym, the energy was dope as our athletes stepped into the spotlight and put on a show in their home ring.
Our goal has always been to match our fighters against tough, talented opponents who push them to grow and prepare them for even bigger challenges ahead.
A huge thank you to all the gyms that showed up prepared—with boxers on weight, paperwork in order, and ready to compete. Shout-out to Stockyards Boxing, Siberia Boxing, King of the Ring, Blue Collar Boxing, Bodies by Dex, Tommies Boxing, Boomerz, Posteraro, and Delgado/Battle Arts for making the night such a success.
KBC Fight Night Vol. 2 is officially set for Saturday, July 12. See you there!“
Jennifer Huggins | Kingsway Boxing Club Owner, World Boxing International Official
“Traveling the world through this incredible sport has been a dream come true—but it’s the investment in grassroots development that truly fuels my passion to keep giving back. After 20 years in business and fighting our own battles—from the 2008 recession to the lasting impacts of the pandemic, a major move, and now the opening of our nearly 8,000 square foot facility—this fight night was more than just an event. It was a celebration of resilience.
Our motto, ‘Defeat Is Not An Option,’ has never rung more true. Sitting back and watching the dedication of our team—through every trial and triumph—was a reminder of how far we’ve come. Our coaches and athletes have grown stronger with every challenge. And as we continue to fight on the international stage to keep boxing in the Olympics, it’s moments like these that highlight just how critical it is to protect the dreams and opportunities this sport provides.”
As we look back on this incredible weekend, it’s impossible not to reflect on the journeys that led Andrea, Quentin, and Kwasi to this moment. Each of them began at different stages in their boxing paths, but they’ve all grown under the guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support of our coaching team — Head Coach Virgil Barrow and Owner/Coach Jennifer Huggins.
From early mornings in the gym to late nights refining technique, Virgil and Jennifer have been there every step of the way — pushing, encouraging, and believing in their athletes. Their leadership has not only shaped skilled fighters but has cultivated a community built on respect, perseverance, and unity.
Together, these athletes and coaches embody what Kingsway Boxing stands for: discipline, passion, and family. Every punch thrown, every challenge faced, and every victory earned represents years of shared effort and commitment.
This weekend’s tournament wasn’t just about medals or titles — it was about celebrating growth, resilience, and the strength of the KBC family. We’re endlessly proud of Andrea, Quentin, and Kwasi for their outstanding performances and for representing our club with such heart and integrity.
