Team Kingsway Boxing Makes History at Athena’s Reign, Bringing Home Two Gold Medals
Posted on
From June 19–21, 2026, history was made as Team Kingsway Boxing competed at the inaugural Athena’s Reign Tournament, Ontario’s first all-female boxing tournament presented in a tournament format.
Hosted in Mississauga Ontario, the event brought together female boxers, coaches, and officials from across the province and beyond in a celebration of competition, opportunity, and the continued growth of women’s boxing.
Kingsway Boxing Club proudly entered two athletes, Andrea “Badazz” Young and Alexandra Pistiolis Marinow, and both rose to the occasion, capturing gold medals in their respective divisions and contributing to a memorable weekend for the club.
The tournament represented more than just another competition on the calendar. Athena’s Reign marked a significant milestone for amateur boxing in Ontario, providing a dedicated platform to showcase the talent, determination, and achievements of female athletes across all age groups and experience levels. The event evolved from the Women’s Reign series and, for the first time, was presented as a full tournament format in 2026.
Adding to the historic significance of the weekend, Kingsway Boxing Club Owner and Head Coach Jennifer Huggins served as Tournament Director. As an international referee and judge, Learning Facilitator, and member of the World Boxing Sport & Competition Committee, Huggins played a key leadership role in delivering an event that highlighted the continued advancement of opportunities for women throughout every level of the sport.

KINGSWAY BOXING FIGHTER FEATURES

Each athlete’s path through the tournament was unique, but every competitor represented Kingsway Boxing with pride, demonstrating the growth that comes from stepping into challenging environments and competing against strong opposition.
Alexandra Pistiolis Marinow Adds Another Gold to Her Growing Resume
Alexandra earned a bye straight to the finals, making her return to the boxing ring since her gold-medal performance at the Brampton Cup.
Although she’s been away from boxing competition, Alexandra has stayed busy coaching and competing via her Muay Thai gym, continuing to sharpen her skills as a well-rounded combat athlete.
Our collaboration with Alexandra is a unique one that we truly value. She stepped into the ring against a tough boxer from the USA, handled the pressure with confidence, and showcased the experience and composure that set her apart.
There’s no limit to Alexandra’s potential. We’re excited to continue supporting her journey and watching her grow as a multi-sport athlete.

Andrea “Badazz” Young Continues Her Championship Run
Over the past seven weeks, Andrea stepped into the ring seven times, gaining valuable experience and continuing to develop with every bout.
This past weekend, she competed at the inaugural Athena’s Reign Female Tournament, where she put together her most impressive performance to date.
In the semifinals, Andrea faced a tall, lengthy opponent. Applying relentless smart pressure from the opening bell, she broke her opponent down and forced a stoppage in the second round when the opposing coach threw in the towel.
In the finals, she faced a highly skilled and experienced boxer. Andrea rose to the challenge, delivering a composed and confident performance on her way to a unanimous decision victory.
The goal over these past few weeks was simple: gain experience, embrace tough competition, and continue growing. Andrea did exactly that—and then some.
Congratulations to Andrea on an outstanding tournament and an incredible seven-week stretch. The hard work is paying off, and we’re excited to see what’s next.
For now, it’s time for some well-earned rest and recovery.
7 fights. 7weeks. One step closer to the next level.
Three words can sum up the weekend; Preparation, Trust, and Growth.
This tournament was an exciting one! Trusting the training and my abilities allowed me to perform at my best, showcasing the hard work we’ve been putting in; and achieve the results we were working toward. I’m proud of the performance and the outcome though still finding room for improvement as we continue the journey.

Words From The Coaches Corner
This past weekend, we proudly entered Alexandra and Andrea into the inaugural female tournament Athena’s Reign, and both athletes walked away with gold medal performances.
Success isn’t just measured by medals—it’s measured by the lessons learned, the challenges accepted, and the progress made along the way.
Both Andrea and Alexandra embodied that mindset throughout the tournament. They stepped into the ring prepared to compete, embrace adversity, and showcase the hard work they’ve put in day after day. Their performances reflected not only their skill and determination, but also their commitment to continuous improvement as athletes.
Congratulations to both athletes on outstanding performances and well-deserved gold medals. The hardware is great, but the development, confidence, and experience gained are what will continue to drive future success.
Looking Ahead
A Historic Weekend for Women’s Boxing
While the medals are worth celebrating, the significance of Athena’s Reign extends far beyond the podium.
The tournament demonstrated the remarkable growth of women’s boxing in Ontario and created an environment where athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers could come together to celebrate and advance the sport. Athena’s Reign served as a powerful reminder of how far the sport has come and the opportunities that continue to be created for the next generation of female boxers.
For Kingsway Boxing Club, bringing home two gold medals while contributing to the success of a landmark event made for a weekend that will not soon be forgotten.
Congratulations to Andrea Young and Alexandra Pistiolis Marinow on their championship performances, and congratulations to everyone who helped make Athena’s Reign a historic success.
The future of women’s boxing is bright, and Team Kingsway Boxing is proud to be part of its continued growth.
The Athena’s Reign Tournament was another important milestone for Team Kingsway Boxing as we continue building toward the second half of the 2026 season.
With two gold medals, and numerous lessons learned, our athletes head back to training with confidence, motivation, and a clearer understanding of the adjustments required to reach the next level.
The work continues.
Provincial championships, national championships, and future international opportunities remain firmly in our sights, and this weekend’s performances demonstrated that Team Kingsway Boxing is moving in the right direction.
Congratulations to Andrea Young and Alexandra Pistiolis Marinow for proudly representing Kingsway Boxing Club.
The medals are earned. The experience is gained.
