Important Note: Our Wednesday yoga program is year round; feel free to join at any time during the year. Some of our special programs run as 6-12 week sessions. This is an ongoing program offered on our regular schedule. Suitable for the avid yogi and those looking to explore yoga for the first time, this is a great program for all ages and fitness levels.


Program: 12 Week Beginner Yoga With Patricia
Location: HIGH PERFORMANCE STUDIOS | 3046 Bloor St. W.
Program Dates: September 15, 2018 To December 8, 2018
Every Saturday: 9:00 am – 10:00 am (8:55 am arrival)

If you have never done yoga but are intrigued, this class will teach you basic poses and how to connect to your breath to your movement. It will also call to you if you are more experienced in yoga and are looking for a class that is gentle while still being personally challenging. We will spend time together building balance, flexibility, strength and endurance through body awareness, breathing techniques and an understanding of how our own body moves.

  • The Workout: Yoga provides athletes with training and tools that will allow them to excel in their chosen field. This 1 hour pilates inspired class will target the abdominals, back, butt & leg muscles.  The focus will be on increasing body awareness, strength & stability in the core using breath, body weight.
  • What to bring? Bring your own Yoga Mat.  Also, feel free to bring a small blanket/towel to use during final relaxation. Knee issues? We have participants that use a blanket, some even use a simple garden knee protector (what we use while planting and working in the garden). It is so simple and yet gives great protection if you have problems putting your bare knee to the mat.
  • NEVER Plateau! The body hates change! It would much rather do the same thing every minute of every day. Well we have news for you…when you do the same exercise routine day in and day out you stop seeing results or “plateau.” Throughout our classes we utilize the principle of muscle confusion. You will NEVER do the same workout twice! Why is this good? Because…your body will never adapt and you will never plateau! You will get results and they will come quick and continue to come!
  • Positive Energy: Our programs are about a team environment where both your trainers and fellow teammates motivate and challenge you to reach your highest potential!

Maria (aka Masha) has been practicing yoga since 2008, and has been teaching since 2014. She credits yoga as her most powerful tool to help her find balance and joy in all areas of her life.

She is passionate about bringing her knowledge of yoga to people of all ages and abilities. She loves to have a balance of ease and difficulty in her yoga classes, which make her classes a soothing experience for the mind, body, and soul.

Masha believes that when we challenge ourselves on the mat, we’re better equipping ourselves to face challenges off the mat.

Yoga for Beginners | Patricia Else

After many years in public health and as a funder for community based services, Patricia decided to take a career turn and focus on supporting people to reach their fitness goals.

She is a certified personal trainer though Can Fit Pro and a 200 hour certified yoga teacher. In keeping with her belief in fitness for all abilities and ages, she is an older adult fitness specialist and has completed Heart Wise training. She is a clinic instructor for the Running Room and has worked with hundreds of runners through the 5k, 10k, 10 miler and half marathon clinics.

She has a Master of Science in Community Health Nursing. She is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Women’s Habitat of Etobicoke and a volunteer with Golden Rescue.


Each individual sport has very different demands and Sport Specific Yoga provides athletes with training and tools that will allow them to excel in their chosen field.

When designing a sport specific yoga program, our high performance yoga instructors use the following to ensure the program meets each athletes needs:

  • The specific biomechanics of the sport
  • The individuals strengths and weaknesses
  • The physiological demands of the sport
  • Common injuries which athletes suffer in the sport
  • The individual’s core training program (periodization)

​*For those individuals that are working with a coach for their core program, High Performance instructors will consult and work within the parameters of the athlete’s training plan so that it is enhanced and not compromised.
