“OPEN CLASSES”

The Fitness Studio (3005 Bloor St. W)

Boxing Ontario and Nationally Certified Coaches run “Open Classes”.  These classes are geared toward those interested in beginner boxing or looking to use boxing as a form of fitness.  Open classes will teach you the technical movement and mechanics of boxing.  Along with learning technique, students in this class can expect to be physically challenged in a whole new way.  All classes offered on this schedule are suitable for all fitness levels!

“CLUB CLASSES”

The Boxing Gym (22 B Jutland Rd.)

Boxing Ontario and Nationally Certified Coaches run “Club classes”.  Students will be put through a series of drills, both technical and conditioning.  The difficulty of these drills vary, making classes extremely challenging, however allowing those at lower fitness levels to pace themselves. The classes include body conditioning and toning, combination drills and a minimum of 8 rounds of boxing and skipping. This class will have you working the bag like a pro! We encourage all of our students to incorporate “Club Classes” into their weekly workout. Even if you are already taking “Open Classes”, it is great to come out to the club and enjoy the facilities.

“BOXING 101 AND TECHNICAL SPARRING CLASS”

The majority of our members find the “Open and Club Classes” address all of their boxing interests. However there are many students who are interested in the practical application of the techniques they learn in the conditioning classes.  Students who attend this class will learn how to safely use their skills in the ring. The sparring classes are set up to accommodate complete beginners to the advanced competitive boxer. We will never push any of our students to step into the ring unless this is what they desire, even during the sparring classes. Generally it takes a lot of practice and dedication to develop the skills necessary to feel comfortable using them in a practical situation. This is why we structure the technical classes so that even the more advanced boxers can work on their basic skills.

“OPEN SPARRING CLASS”

This class is meant for boxers who possess the basic skills necessary to defend themselves against all offensive punches. During open sparring boxers are matched up to complete a minimum of 6-8 rounds. If you are interested in “Open Sparring” classes, you must come to “Technical Beginner and Sparring Class” to be assessed.

“ABS CLASSES”

CLUB LOCATION (22 B Jutland Rd.)

We currently run the “Abs Classes” every Monday at 7pm. There is no sign up required to participate so we encourage all of you to take part in these weekly classes. Abdominals are not only important for boxing, but they are also the key to a flat stomach.  You can expect to be challenged for 30 minutes with a variety of abdominal and core exercises. You will definitely feel your abs after this, and no longer be able to say “I don’t have abs”

“FAMILY CLASSES” (Last Saturday of EVERY month)

We run the “Family Classes” on the last Saturday of EVERY month. These classes much resemble the Open and Club classes, however allow families to include their children between the ages of 5-12 years of age. We currently do not have a program specifically for children under the age of 9, therefore this allows parents to involve their younger children in boxing. This class is a great way to learn the basics of boxing with the whole family, and eventually progress to attending other classes separately.  Families can enrol as many of their children in the same class, and only one parent is required to participate in the class with them. Many children who started out in the family class format, have been promoted into more technical classes once they displayed knowledge of the basic boxing skills. Many other families have continued in these classes just to stay in shape.

GROUP BOXING LESSONS

A minimum of 4 people is needed to start group boxing lessons.  This is one of our most popular programs.  The group can pick a convenient day and time that works for the entire group.  If a group member misses a set class they are welcome to make up the missed class in any “Open of Club Class” on the schedule.  If you have a group that is interested in starting we will do a free group demo class just so everyone can see what it’s all about.
